a nasty aroma
First it was Cadbury Schweppes, Vodafone and the whole raft of Philip Green’s companies but now surely Starbucks take the biscuit for making a mocha-ry of our UK tax system?
In a former life, Democrat Kris Engskov, was oft be heard castigating and chastising both George Bush’s for being “soft on taxing big business”. Oh the irony. The corporation’s CEO now justly finds himself at the very epicentre of Starbucks’s tax payments, or rather lack of them. Yep, no corporation tax paid for over a year and none likely for the foreseeable. How possible I hear you cry? How possible that a region always profitable and held up as a model for their continued global domination? A complex series of tax evasio…er…avoidance measures that sees the UK routinely making ‘royalty payments’ to other less successful European countries and their own subsidiaries, that’s how. Cunning eh.
I, for one, will never darken their door ever again. I strongly suggest you too join the boycott and make them pay for their conniving approach: let’s roast the brand.
