I love the phrase ‘is it just me, or…’ and if I’d have been smart enough I would have certainly have registered isitjustmeor.com as a domain name as it is such a great start for any combative conversation. So, without further ado, is it just me, or is anyone else out there surprised by David Cameron’s immediately dismissive reaction to the recent publishing of the Leveson report into our wonderfully inquisitive media? Surely it begs the question of why exactly, did we bother to spend such time, money & effort setting up the inquiry in the first place?

Ah, yes, it was because he was soooo closely intertwined with the mechanics of the place that we all suspected he was in cahoots with one or two of the leading protagonists, and had to distance himself sharpishly from any potential taint and nasty smell. My, back in the day he even went as far as employing one of them as his principal spin-doctor and having another as his bestest friend, ever.

Now, as he rails against the idea of the state having even the tiniest, weeniest involvement in the regulation of the ‘free’ press, anyone would think he’d actually made up his mind before any serious analysis of the facts and debate even took place. The issue is not that politicians have any power or control over the media. It’s that the media have power over politicians. Lol.
